Today I set sail on the MV World Odyssey on the adventure of a lifetime. It was a tough goodbye leaving my mom and my sister in Amsterdam, but I am looking forward to my journey ahead. When I arrived on the ship I got my cabin assignment. I am now a resident of cabin 4043 for the next four months. My cabin is actually more spacious than expected and I don’t think I will have problem settling in to my new ship home.

We waved goodbye to our family and left the dock in Amsterdam at 8:00pm. I was so happy that my mom and sister could come out and wave us on our way. It was a magical moment feeling the ship move from the dock for the first time. The sunset over Amsterdam helped set the tone for adventure and beauty ahead.

After we set sail we had some orientation meetings to help inform us about ship life. Tomorrow we will have more orientation and I am hoping to get to know some of my ship mates a little better.

Bon Voyage,

Christian

SAS Fall 2019

Last year I decided to take a leap of faith by applying for the Semester At Sea Fall 2019 voyage. After a year of planning I packed up my things and left my comfortable college life in Savannah, GA to take a journey of a life time. I am embarking on a four month journey throughout the world, promising friends and family that I will share photos and stories of my travels through this blog. 106 days, 12 countries, 13 cities and 25,000 nautical miles. Exploring countries in Europe, Africa, South & Central America, and transiting the Kiel Canal, and the Panama Canal, this voyage will give me a true global study abroad experience. For updates, photos, and adventurous stories follow my blog!
